Get to Know the 2018 Honda Accord
Every year introduces ground-breaking automotive technologies, making the launch of new models very exciting. For example, the Accord is a mid-size sedan known for its comfort, fuel economy, and drivability. This remains true for the 2018 model, but Honda is also rolling out some new innovations and technologies that make this vehicle even better. Here are some of the top features of the 2018 Honda Accord.
Even Greater Fuel Efficiency: The 2018 Accord Hybrid
The 2018 hybrid model is a complete redesign offering an incredible driving range through its part gasoline, part electric motor. If fuel efficiency is a priority, you’ll love how rarely you need to stop for gas. The vehicle comes with interior and technology features similar to other 2018 Accords, including those available through the Honda Sensing package.
Interior Quality: A Spacious Cabin and Large Trunk
The 2018 Accord seats five, and the Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring trims come with 60/40 split fold-down rear seats. This allows you to fold the seats completely down. The trunk has a spacious 16.7 cubic feet of cargo volume, and with the second row reclined, you can get a surprising amount of utility out of the Accord. You can also add the trunk drawer accessory to give you some more space and help keep smaller loose items sorted.
Standard Safety and Technology Features: Honda Sensing Package
All 2018 Accord models, regardless of trim, come with Honda Sensing technologies. This includes many passive and active systems to bring drivers’ attention to hazards and help avoid collisions, such as the following:
– Collision Mitigation Braking System. Using radar and cameras, the Accord can detect roadway hazards and alert drivers to dangers. If the risk is still present after the alarm, the brakes can be automatically applied to mitigate or prevent a collision.
– Road Departure Mitigation System. This system and the Lane Keeping Assist system help drivers stay centered on the road. If the vehicle begins to drift and the driver isn’t engaging the steering wheel or hasn’t activated the turn signal, the system will issue visual and audible warnings. If the vehicle is still drifting, the Accord may automatically steer to re-center the vehicle or apply the brakes to keep it from departing the road.
– Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow. This convenience feature allows drivers to keep their cruise control engaged even if they’re in traffic or the car ahead is maintaining an inconsistent speed. The system will detect the vehicle ahead and slow down as the distance narrows. If you change lanes or the other driver speeds up, the Accord will re-accelerate to maintain the cruise speed you’ve selected.
– Traffic Sign Recognition. This system detects roadway signs (Do Not Enter, Yield, Speed Limit, etc.) and displays an icon on the instrument panel. This helps drivers who have missed a sign know what rules they need to follow.
The new Accord is full of safety and convenience features, and its hybrid model promises all those innovations plus incredible fuel efficiency. Plus, drivers who are upgrading from the previous year model can look forward to a redesigned exterior. Check out the 2018 Accord at a local dealership to see these impressive renovations up close.
