Raleigh Little Theatre Rose Garden
Calming, relaxing, and breathtaking all perfectly describe Raleigh Little Theatre Rose Garden. For those looking for a variety of gorgeous flowers, this Rose Garden certainly doesn’t disappoint. Plus, this outdoor venue also includes benches for seating, picnic tables, a gazebo, and an amphitheater that all make a great backdrop for photos. Being a bit off the beaten path, this Rose Garden quickly eliminates the stress of day-to-day chaos as soon as you enter the property.
Duke University
Walking around this campus will make you feel as if you stepped into a wonderland of beautiful architecture and gorgeous foliage and landscaping. While you really can’t go wrong with photographing any spot on campus, one of the more popular destinations is Duke University’s west campus. Going here will lead you to amazing photos of incredibly detailed stonework buildings that will leave you inspired and yearning for more.
Lassiter Mill Park
This hidden gem is located at the intersection of Lassiter Mill Road & Lassiter Falls Circle. Home to a beautiful, well-kept wooden bridge, this park also includes a gorgeous dam on Crabtree Creek and a great meandering walking trail. Here you can also see remnants of an old working mill. For those looking to get practice some nature photography, this place really can’t be beat!
Downtown Durham
Those whose photography taste tends more toward an urban feel should definitely make a visit to Downtown Durham. Exploring in the west end of the downtown area will lead you to two historic Romanesque-style tobacco warehouses. Paralleling each other, the courtyard in between yields to incredible views of both historic buildings. Being recently revitalized, this area has been renovated for shops and restaurants giving it a truly unique feel.
Durham Central Park
Encompassing quite an accumulation of different attractions, Durham Central Park is a great place to explore for all photography lovers. This arts-themed park in the downtown area features open spaces, gardens filled with different types of flora and fauna along with local art. This park is also home to Durham Farmer’s Market and the Craft Fair, which makes taking photos very entertaining on those event days.
