The Imagination Station

Located in the former federal court building, this science museum is home to a variety of interactive and hands-on exhibits. Encompassing more than 200 science-related displays, the Imagination Station gives way to fun and educational activities for the whole family. In addition to the exhibits, this museum also has classes and live science shows that are included in the nominal admission fee. One of the most unique aspects of The Imagination Station is that the exhibits change throughout the year, making this museum fun and exciting to go to time and time again!

Fleming Stadium & North Carolina Baseball Museum

A visit here will lead to a great day filled with baseball. First, take in a thrilling game of baseball as you watch the minor league Wilson Tobacconists take on its newest rival. After that, explore the history-filled North Carolina Baseball Museum. Featuring more than five Hall of Fame members, including noted World Series pitcher Catfish Hunter, this museum displays a variety of photos and memorabilia from North Carolina teams and local players. Both the museum and ballpark require a nominal entrance fee and lead to a great day of sporting fun.

Wilson Botanical Gardens

Perfect for a cool summer day, the Wilson Botanical Gardens lets families enjoy the outdoors. Featuring various native plants and perennials, this garden is also home to an extensive tree collection and garden plots. Here, you will also find a special secret garden specifically designed for kids to explore plant life and gardening. Those who want to turn this activity into a full day of fun and education can have a picnic lunch in the multiacre park. Open from dawn until dusk, the Wilson Botanical Gardens is free for all.

Lake Wilson

This lovely lake and park is a quiet place for some fun in the sun. Featuring walking paths, huge and beautiful mature trees, and play parks, Lake Wilson is a local family favorite. Here, you can catch the local wildlife, fish, or set sail in a kayak for a fun day on the water. Lake Wilson is also a great campsite for a night or long weekend camping trip. The reasonable entrance and camping prices, along with the relaxing atmosphere of getting in touch with nature, are just a few reasons why Lake Wilson made the list.
