Following a complete overhaul in 2017, the 2018 Honda Civic provides the reliability, affordability, and versatility that’s made it one of the best-selling vehicles in America for nearly two decades. Head-turning aesthetics highlight the abundance of exterior features, while comfort, convenience, and tech specs on the inside make the entire bundle truly unique. Here’s a look at everything the Civic has to offer in 2018.
The 2018 edition of the Honda Civic comes in five exciting trim levels: the LX, EX, EX-T, EX-L, and Touring. The LX includes 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, automatic multi-reflector halogen headlights, and power side mirrors. The EX ups the ante with a one-touch power moonroof, power heated side mirrors, intermittent windshield wipers, and smart entry, while the EX-T and EX-L provide fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a rear-deck spoiler.
The Touring edition rounds out the Civic lineup with automatic LED high and low-beam headlights.
Under the hood, the Civic has two engine choices for the 2018 model. Available on the LX and EX, the stock engine is a capable, 2.0-liter four-cylinder that churns out 158 horsepower and up to 138 pound-feet of torque. This engine pairs with a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
If you’re looking for a little more oomph, opt for the EX-T trim level or higher. Each of these trims comes equipped with an inline, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers a surprising 174 horsepower, 167 pound-feet of torque, a zero-to-60 rate in just 7.0 seconds, and a maximum speed of 130 mph. Like the 2.0-liter, the turbocharged engine can be paired with a manual transmission or CVT.
Both of the Civic’s engine options provide some of the best fuel economy in the compact, midsize sedan range, no matter which transmission or engine you choose.
With an array of tech, comfort, and convenience features, the Civic’s interior really shines. All trims get automatic climate control, cruise control, 12-volt power outlet, illuminated steering wheel-mounted controls, Bluetooth, and a four-speaker audio system. Upper trims also include heated seats, leather, premium audio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Fresh off a five-star safety rating in 2017 from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Civic is likely to retain its honors. The new Civic offers a plethora of active, passive, and driver-assistive safety specs. To help grip the road and aid in handling, the Civic offers vehicle stability assist, anti-lock braking, electronic brake distribution, multi-angle rearview mirror.
Designed to prevent accidents from occurring, the Civic tacks on some high-tech driver assist features. Highlights include lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, Honda LaneWatch, a multi-angle rearview camera, tire pressure monitoring system, and more.
